In her memoir Settle for More, Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly looks back on her life and describes her winding road to fame and the many obstacles she encountered along the way. From her vantage as one of the most-watched newscasters in the country, the 45-year-old journalist blends autobiographical reflection with harrowing accounts of the harassment she experienced at the hands of Donald Trump and the founder of Fox News, Roger Ailes.

Kelly had a mostly happy childhood in upstate New York. She was raised by nurturing parents who encouraged her to be self-sufficient and ambitious. Her first traumatic experience happened in seventh grade when she was suddenly ostracized and bullied by her girlfriends for no discernable reason. It was a short-lived but terrible period that left an emotional scar.

Summary Analysis Review of Megyn Kelly Settle for More by Instaread (Audible Audio Edition) Instaread Dwight Equitz Books

I gave this a 3 star rating because I wasn't pleased or displeased with the summary. I don't follow Megyn Kelly, nor did I know much of her prior to reading this summary, so I feel like that puts me in a good positions to leave an unbiased review.

I have to give Megyn Kelly credit- she seems to value her family a lot which seems hard to do when you are in a position like hers. Despite her dedication to career advance. It's impossible to give all of yourself to all of the things you value in your life, but she seems to make time for the things that are priorities.

I felt like she is a pretty conservative individual who chose to set aside some of her more controversial views to appeal to more liberal individuals, perhaps for better ratings. She can appeal to her conservative fans, feminists, liberals (mainly those who support the feminist movement and those who do not support Trump), women who have been victims of sexual violence, etc. I also feel like the timing of this book was suspicious, only because a main topic discussed in the summary was her conflict with Trump. So I think many Trump supporters would read, even if only to discredit her. And many people who do not support Trump would want to read in order to paint a bigger picture of the conflict for themselves. I think that she likely used the timing to advance her book, which is not wrong. But it just seems dishonest to me.

I think it's really important to use a platform to reach people and do good. Megyn Kelly has a tremendous platform in the sense that she has the power to reach so many people through her career. I hope that her book could be an opportunity for women who have had similar struggles to be open and honest with their struggles and get the peace and closure they are seeking. I also hope that it could be an inspiration for all working moms. A little encouragement to help them see that they can have a career and family and be successful at both if they so choose.

Summary Analysis Review of Megyn Kelly Settle for More by Instaread (Audible Audio Edition) Instaread Dwight Equitz Books Reviews

This is a summary of the widely talked about memoir by Megyn Kelly. I cannot recommend the summary highly enough, especially for people who have limited interest in the topic, as it comes up a lot and is worth knowing at least tangentially right now.

This starts with a concise and yet remarkable conprehensive overview of the primary points of Megan Kelly's life. My only nit pick is it says she went to work for a "top-teir law firm" in NY, and being familiar with nearly every AMLAW 100 firm in New York, I was curious to know which one.

The people discussed are

Megyn Kelly
Jim (her college boyfriend)
Edward Kelly (her dad)
Meredith (her first mentor)
Doug Brunt (her husband)
Yates, Yardley, and Thacher (their children)
Brit and Kim (her mentors at Fox News)
Roger Ailes (co-founder of Fox News ousted for sexual harassment)
Donald Trump
Bill O'Reilly
Chris Wallace and Bret Baier (Fox News anchors with whom she moderated the debates)

Relationships discussed include those with Kelly and Trump, Ailes, and Doug Brunt.

Themes discussed are Gender, Truth Telling, Self-Improvement.

I think most readers who are unwilling to read the whole will get all they need from the summary, and I think, given how much this book is discussed, a reader would be committing a disservice to herself by missing it.
